God's Words of Comfort

A Portion of God's Holy Word Regarding:

Worship – Praise – Glorify – God's Glory – Testimony

Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD, saying, "I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea. Stained Glass JesusAnd you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, All sheep and oxen--Even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas. They also do no iniquity: they walk in His ways… Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined mine heart to perform Thy statutes always, even unto the end… I am Thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know Thy testimonies. B and W Teton ChapelWatch your step when you enter God's house. Enter to learn. That's far better than mindlessly offering a sacrifice, doing more harm than good. Don't shoot off your mouth, or speak before you think. Don't be too quick to tell God what you think He wants to hear. God's in charge, not you - the less you speak, the better. Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 (The Message)

Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! for it is written, 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him.'" Matthew 4:10 (NRSV)
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden… So then, let your light shine in the sight of men, so that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father, who is in Heaven." Matthew 5:14, 16 (CPDV)
"For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." Matthew 6:13 (KJV)
Soon great crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were crippled in feet or hands, blind or dumb, and many besides, and they hastened to lay them at His feet. And He cured them, so that the people were amazed to see the dumb speaking, the maimed with their hands perfect, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they gave the glory to the God of Israel. Matthew 15:30-31 (WNT)
The blind and the lame came to Him, and He healed them there in the Temple. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the little children in the Temple shouting, "Praise God for the Son of David."
But they were indignant and asked Jesus, "Do You hear what these children are saying?"

"Yes," Jesus replied. "Haven't you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, 'You have taught children and infants to give You praise.'" Matthew 21:14-16 (NLT)
Volcanic Layer Topping MountainAs Jesus was leaving, the man who had been possessed asked permission to accompany Him. But He would not allow it. "Go home to your family," He said, "and report to them all that the Lord has done for you, and the mercy He has shown you." So the man departed, and related publicly everywhere in the Ten Towns all that Jesus had done for him; and all were astonished. Mark 5:18-20 (WNT)

As He rode along [toward Jerusalem], people kept spreading their cloaks on the road. As He was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in Heaven, and glory in the highest Heaven!"
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, order Your disciples to stop."
He answered, "I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out." Luke 19:36-40 (NRSV)
"But this will give you an opportunity to tell about Me. Make up your minds not to worry ahead of time about what you will say. I will give you the wisdom to say things that none of your enemies will be able to stand against or prove wrong." Luke 21:13-15 (NCV™)
["Come and See." This was the invitation Philip the disciple gave to his friend Nathanael that he indeed had found the Son of God, as spoken of by Moses and the prophets. Skeptical Nathanael didn’t expect to find much, judging by his response to the invitation (”Is it possible for any good to come out of Nazareth?”), but he went along anyway. Although they had never met, Jesus, being the Son of God, already knew everything there was to know about Nathanael. This omniscience was enough to convince Nathanael that he had come face to face with the Messiah. This is also our invitation to "come and see," to those of us that are lost in sin. God knows everything about us and sent His Son to save us from ourselves, from our sinful lives if only we would believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that believing you may have life eternal in His name.]
Philip came across Nathanael and said to him, "We have made a discovery! It is He of whom Moses, in the Law, and the prophets were writing, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
"Nazareth!" said Nathanael, "Is it possible for any good to come out of Nazareth?"
Philip said to him, "Come and see."
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him, "See, here is a true son of Israel in whom there is nothing false."
Nathanael said to Him, "Where did You get knowledge of me?"
In answer Jesus said, "Before Philip was talking with you, while you were still under the fig-tree, I saw you."
Nathanael said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God, You are King of Israel!"
In answer Jesus said to him, "You have faith because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig-tree.' You will see greater things than these." And He said to him, "Truly I say to you all, You will see Heaven opening and God's angels going up and coming down on the Son of Man." John 1:45-51 (BBE)
Golden Sierra Road"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24 (KJV)
"Were I to glorify Myself," answered Jesus, "I should have no real glory. There is One who glorifies Me--namely My Father." John 8:54 (WNT)
We all know that God does not listen to sinners, but He listens to anyone who worships and obeys Him. John 9:31 (NCV™)
Now a certain man, named Lazarus, of Bethany, was lying ill--Bethany being the village of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was the Mary who poured the perfume over the Lord and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill.) So the sisters sent to Him to say, "Master, he whom You hold dear is ill."
Jesus received the message and said, "This illness is not to end in death, but is to promote the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified by it." John 11:1-4 (WNT)
Jesus replied that the time had come for Him to return to His glory in Heaven, and that, "I must fall and die like a kernel of wheat that falls into the furrows of the earth. Unless I die I will be alone—a single seed. But My death will produce many new wheat kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. If you love your life down here—you will lose it. If you despise your life down here—you will exchange it for eternal glory. If these men want to be My disciples, tell them to come and follow Me, for My servants must be where I am. And if they follow Me, the Father will honor them… Father, bring glory and honor to Your name." Then a voice spoke from Heaven saying, "I have already done this, and I will do it again." John 12:23-26, 28 (TLB)
A number even of the rulers had belief in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not say so openly for fear that they might be shut out from the Synagogue: For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God. John 12:42-43 (BBE)
As soon as Judas [Iscariot] left the room, Jesus said, "The time has come for Me, the Son of Man, to enter into My glory, and God will receive glory because of all that happens to Me." John 13:31 (NLT)
"I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in Me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father. I will do anything you ask [the Father] in My name so that the Father will be given glory because of the Son. If you ask Me to do something, I will do it." John 14:12-14 (GOD’S WORD®)
"If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples." John 15:7-8 (KJV)
Jesus said these things, and lifting up His eyes to Heaven, He said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may also glorify You… I glorified You on the earth. I have accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. Now, Father, glorify Me with Your own self with the glory which I had with You before the world existed." John 17:1, 4-5 (WEB)
Then Ananias said to Saul, "The God of our forefathers has appointed you to know His will, and to see the righteous One and hear Him speak. For you shall be a witness for Him, to all men, of what you have seen and heard. And now why delay? Rise, get yourself baptized, and wash off your sins, calling upon His name." Acts 22:14-16 (WNT)
When they had come to know God, they did not give Him glory as God nor render Him thanks, but they became absorbed in useless discussions, and their senseless minds were darkened. While boasting of their wisdom they became utter fools, and, instead of worshipping the imperishable God, they worshipped images resembling perishable man or resembling birds or beasts or reptiles. Romans 1:21-23 (WNT)
Those whom God had already chosen He also set apart to become like His Son, so that the Son would be the first among many believers. And so those whom God set apart, He called; and those He called, He put right with Himself, and He shared His glory with them. Romans 8:29-30 (GNT)
So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to His service and pleasing to Him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Romans 12:1 (GNT)
For it is written: "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bend to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God." Romans 14:11 (CPDV)
And so, neither he who plants, nor he who waters, is anything, but only God, who provides the growth. 1 Corinthians 3:7 (CPDV)
Do you not know that your bodies are a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is within you--the Spirit whom you have from God? And you are not your own, for you have been redeemed at infinite cost. Therefore glorify God in your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (WNT)
Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers, asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready and never give up. Always pray for all God's people. Also pray for me that when I speak, God will give me words so that I can tell the secret of the Good News without fear. I have been sent to preach this Good News, and I am doing that now, here in prison. Pray that when I preach the Good News I will speak without fear, as I should. Ephesians 6:18-20 (NCV™)
Whatever happens, dear friends, be glad in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you this and it is good for you to hear it again and again. Watch out for those wicked men—who say you must be circumcised to be saved. For it isn't the cutting of our bodies that makes us children of God; it is worshipping Him with our spirits. That is the only true "circumcision." We Christians glory in what Christ Jesus has done for us and realize that we are helpless to save ourselves. Philippians 3:1-3 (TLB) [Italics theirs]
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 (NRSV)
Let the teaching of Christ live in you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and instruct each other by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16 (NCV™)
This is a statement that can be trusted and deserves complete acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and I am the foremost sinner. However, I was treated with mercy so that Christ Jesus could use me, the foremost sinner, to demonstrate his patience. This patience serves as an example for those who would believe in him and live forever. 1 Timothy 1:15-16 (GOD’S WORD®)
Do not be ashamed, then, of witnessing for our Lord; neither be ashamed of me, a prisoner for Christ's sake. Instead, take your part in suffering for the Good News, as God gives you the strength for it. He saved us and called us to be His own people, not because of what we have done, but because of His own purpose and grace. He gave us this grace by means of Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. 2 Timothy 1:8-9 (GNT)
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how He did it. Because He never lost sight of where He was headed - that exhilarating finish in and with God - He could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now He's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility He plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! Hebrews 12:2-3 (The Message)

Red Swirled SunsetIf then, we have a Kingdom which will never be moved, let us have grace, so that we may give God such worship as is pleasing to Him with fear and respect: For our God is an all-burning fire. Hebrews 12:28-29 (BBE)
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 (HCSB)
But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence [in God] when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect. Keep your conscience clear. Then those who treat the good Christian life you live with contempt will feel ashamed that they have ridiculed you. 1 Peter 3:15-16 (GOD’S WORD®)
Whatever be the gifts which each has received, you must use them for one another's benefit, as good stewards of God's many-sided kindness. If any one preaches, let it be as uttering God's truth; if any one renders a service to others, let it be in the strength which God supplies; so that in everything glory may be given to God in the name of Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the might to the Ages of the Ages. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11 (WNT)
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17 (NKJV)
Every creature which is in Heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!" Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever. Revelation 5:13-14 (NKJV)
Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:7 (KJV)
Everyone will respect you, Lord, and will honor you. Only you are holy. All the nations will come and worship you, because the right things you have done are now made known. Revelation 15:4 (NCV™)
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready… At this I fell at [the angel's] feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to Jesus' testimony. Worship God!" Revelation 19:6-7, 10 (WEB)
I saw no sanctuary in the city, for the Lord God, the Ruler of all, is its Sanctuary, and so is the Lamb. Nor has the city any need of the sun or of the moon, to give it light; for the glory of God has shone upon it and its lamp is the Lamb. Revelation 21:22-23 (WNT)
