When the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?"

NN Fall Colors"Stand up for Me against world opinion and I'll stand up for you before My Father in Heaven… If you don't go all the way with Me, through thick and thin, you don't deserve Me. One day people were bringing young children to Jesus for Him to touch them, but the disciples interfered. Jesus, however, on seeing this, was moved to indignation, and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me: do not hinder them; for to those who are childlike the Kingdom of God belongs. In solemn truth I tell you that no one who does not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will by any possibility enter it." Mark 10:13-15 (WNT)
"You will be hated by all men, because of My name; but he who goes through to the End will have salvation." Mark 13:13 (BBE)
Then He said to them, "Go the whole world over, and proclaim the Good News to all mankind. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves will be condemned." Mark 16:16 (WNT)
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me; He has appointed Me to preach Good News to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted and to announce that captives shall be released and the blind shall see, that the downtrodden shall be freed from their oppressors, and that God is ready to give blessings to all who come to Him." Luke 4:18-19 (TLB)
"For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." Luke 9:56 (KJV)
"Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God." Luke 12:8-9 (KJV)
[Jesus was widely criticized by the Pharisees for spending so much time with the “sinners” of the day. The sinners and the outcasts were lost, according to Jesus, and it was important to go to greater lengths to reach out to them and “find” them, to bring them into the Kingdom of God. Thus, finding that one lost sheep (in the Parable of the Lost Sheep) becomes more important than the others who don’t need “finding.” The same theme holds true in Jesus’ subsequent Parable of the Lost Coin. God places an infinite, irreplaceable value on each of our lives, wanting all of us to come to repentance. The Bible states there are five occasions which cause the angels in Heaven to sing. The first was when God said, ‘Let there be light,’ causing the earth to come alive. Another came with the birth of Jesus. The angels will also sing with the arrival of the Church in Heaven, and then again at the end of the Age when the Lord defeats His enemies. And the fifth occasion for singing, which occurs often, is every time someone repents and comes to the Lord. So you can see how important each and every one of us is, we’re so dear and precious to Him.]
"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'
"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
"Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
Luke 15:4-10 (NKJV)
A certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what do I do to inherit eternal life?"
     Jesus asked him,
"Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except One -- God. You know the commandments: 'Don't commit adultery,' 'Don't murder,' 'Don't steal,' 'Don't give false testimony,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"
He said, "I have observed all these things from my youth up."
When Jesus heard these things, He said to him,
"You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in Heaven. Come, follow Me."
But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said,
"How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God." Luke 18:18-25 (WEB)
"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:10 (KJV)
[The repentant criminal that was crucified along with Jesus simply said nine words giving him eternal life – see Luke 23, the chapter regarding the Crucifixion of Jesus:]
Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom."
     And Jesus said to him,
"Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:42-43 (NKJV)
To all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God. John 1:12 (NRSV)
The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and exclaimed, "Look, that is the Lamb of God who is to take away the sin of the world!" John 1:29 (WEB)
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17 (KJV)
[Again, Jesus reaches out to the “lost,” while sitting at Jacobs Well near the town of Sychar, and a Samarian woman approached to draw water, and He asked her for a drink. This woman, a hopeless sinner, much like ourselves, has had five husbands and was living with another man. In this passage, Jesus reaches out to her despite her past and offers living water, salvation, eternal life, forgiveness of her sins, the love of God, all without restriction. Jesus’ water gives us all life eternal, and that His salvation is for everyone, everywhere:]

Stained Glass Living Water"How is it," replied the woman, "that a Jew like You asks me, who am a woman and a Samaritan, for water?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
"If you had known God's free gift," replied Jesus, "and who it is that said to you, 'Give me some water,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
"Sir," she said, "You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; so where can You get the living water from?"...
"Every one," replied Jesus, "who drinks any of this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks any of the water that I shall give him will never, never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become a fountain within him of water springing up for the Life of the Ages."
"Sir," said the woman, "give me that water, that I may never be thirsty, nor continually come all the way here to draw from the well."
"Go and call your husband," said Jesus; "and come back."
"I have no husband," she replied.
"You rightly say that you have no husband," said Jesus; "for you have had five husbands, and the man you have at present is not your husband. You have spoken the truth in saying that… Believe me," said Jesus, "the time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship One of whom you know nothing. We worship One whom we know; for salvation comes from the Jews. But a time is coming--nay, has already come--when the true worshippers will worship the Father with true spiritual worship; for indeed the Father desires such worshippers. God is Spirit; and those who worship Him must bring Him true spiritual worship." John 4:9-11, 13-18, 21-24 (WNT)
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24 (KJV)
"No man is able to come to Me if the Father who sent Me does not give him the desire to come: and I will take him up from the dead on the last day… Truly I say to you, he who has faith in Me has eternal Life. I am the bread of Life… I am the living bread, the bread which I will give is My flesh which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:44, 47-48, 51 (BBE)
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has the Life of the Ages, and I will raise him up on the last day… This is the bread which came down out of Heaven; it is unlike that which your forefathers ate--for they ate and yet died. He who eats this bread shall live for ever." John 6:54, 58 (WNT)
"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 (WEB)
"In most solemn truth I tell you that if any one shall have obeyed My teaching he shall in no case ever see death." John 8:51 (WNT)
"I am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:9 (KJV)
Jesus said to [Martha], "I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, though he die, yet will he live. Whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26 (WEB)
"If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honor." John 12:26 (KJV)
"I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me may not remain in the darkness. If anyone listens to My sayings, and doesn't believe, I don't judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world." John 12:46-47 (HNV)
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."
Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"
     Jesus said to him,
"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:1-6 (NKJV)
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21 (KJV)
[Peter and John heal a lame man (see Acts, Chapters 3 and 4). After the Holy Spirit had been placed upon the Apostles, they were going about healing and spreading the Good News. Peter and John were going to the Temple in Jerusalem to pray one day when a lame beggar called to them wanting money. He had been placed by the Temple gate each day to beg from passers by. Instead, Peter and John healed him of his disability in the name of Jesus Christ. The man went with the apostles into the Temple, leaping with joy and praising God. When the people saw what had happened, they recognized the lame man and were amazed at what had happened, Stained Glass John and Peterand ran to him. Peter asked the people why they were so surprised at this healing. It had been done in the name of Jesus, the Man that these people had recently handed over to their authorities for crucifixion:]
"You killed the One who leads to life, but God raised Him from death—and we are witnesses to this. It was the power of His name that gave strength to this lame man. What you see and know was done by faith in His name; it was faith in Jesus that has made Him well, as you can all see. And now, my friends, I know that what you and your leaders did to Jesus was due to your ignorance. God announced long ago through all the prophets that His Messiah had to suffer; and He made it come true in this way. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that He will forgive your sins. If you do, times of spiritual strength will come from the Lord, and He will send Jesus, who is the Messiah He has already chosen for you." Acts 3:15-20 (GNT)

[The Conversion of Saul to Paul (see Acts 7:54-9:19). This conversion was truly remarkable in that Saul originally persecuted Christians, and aided in the stoning death of the apostle Stephen. Therefore, getting Saul to do a complete turnaround and become the apostle to the Gentiles was another example of God’s genius at work. If you want to get alcoholics or drug-users to turn their lives around, who better than a former alcoholic or drug addict to help them. If you want to warn people of the dangers of a certain lifestyle, then someone who has lived that life make the best crusaders. God arranged for the greatest Christian “bounty-hunter,” Saul, to become the most effective Christian missionary in history, as the apostle Paul. If God can convert Saul, He can convert anyone.]
Stained Glass Saul     On the journey, as he was getting near Damascus, suddenly there flashed round him a light from Heaven; and falling to the ground he heard a voice which said to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
"Who art thou, Lord?" he asked.
"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," was the reply. "But rise and go to the city, and you will be told what you are to do." Acts 9:3-6 (WNT)
God has been very kind and patient, waiting for you to change, but you think nothing of His kindness. Perhaps you do not understand that God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives. Romans 2:4 (NCV™)
If the death of his Son restored our relationship with God while we were still His enemies, we are even more certain that, because of this restored relationship, the life of His Son will save us. In addition, our Lord Jesus Christ lets us continue to brag about God. After all, it is through Christ that we now have this restored relationship with God. Romans 5:10-11 (GOD’S WORD®)
For we know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that sin's dominion over the body may be abolished, so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin, since a person who has died is freed from sin's claims. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. Romans 6:6-8 (HCSB)
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:11-14 (ESV)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 (KJV)
We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love Him. They are the people He called, because that was His plan. God knew them before He made the world, and He decided that they would be like His Son so that Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers. Romans 8:28-29 (NCV™)
If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved. The scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed." Romans 10:9-11 (GNT)
Jew and Gentile are on precisely the same footing; for the same Lord is Lord over all, and is infinitely kind to all who call upon Him for deliverance. For "every one, without exception, who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:12-13 (WNT)
Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord." No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:13-21 (NRSV)
Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. God has done all this. He has restored our relationship with Him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. In other words, God was using Christ to restore His relationship with humanity. He didn't hold people's faults against them, and He has given us this Message of restored relationships to tell others… God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God's approval through Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, 21 (GOD’S WORD®)
B and W Teton HomesteadFor God says, "Your cry came to Me at a favorable time, when the doors of welcome were wide open. I helped you on a day when salvation was being offered." Right now God is ready to welcome you. Today He is ready to save you. 2 Corinthians 6:2 (TLB)
God can use sorrow in our lives to help us turn away from sin and seek salvation. We will never regret that kind of sorrow. But sorrow without repentance is the kind that results in death. 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NLT)
I have been crucified with Christ: and I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the real life I now have within this body is a result of my trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (TLB)
The Scriptures, telling what would happen in the future, said that God would make the non-Jewish people right through their faith. This Good News was told to Abraham beforehand, as the Scripture says: "All nations will be blessed through you." So all who believe as Abraham believed are blessed just as Abraham was. But those who depend on following the law to make them right are under a curse, because the Scriptures say, "Anyone will be cursed who does not always obey what is written in the Book of the Law." Now it is clear that no one can be made right with God by the law, because the Scriptures say, "Those who are right with God will live by trusting in Him." Galatians 3:8-11 (NCV™)
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree." Galatians 3:13 (WEB)
For now we are all children of God through faith in Jesus Christ, and we who have been baptized into union with Christ are enveloped by Him. We are no longer Jews or Greeks or slaves or free men or even merely men or women, but we are all the same—we are Christians; we are one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28 (TLB)
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (KJV)
Those who belong to Christ have nailed their natural evil desires to His cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit's power, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Then we won't need to look for honors and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings. Galatians 5:23-25 (TLB)
Do not be fooled: You cannot cheat God. People harvest only what they plant. If they plant to satisfy their sinful selves, their sinful selves will bring them ruin. But if they plant to please the Spirit, they will receive eternal life from the Spirit. We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time if we do not give up. Galatians 6:7-9 (NCV™)
God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. It's not the result of anything you've done, so no one can brag about it. God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that He has prepared for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 (GOD’S WORD®)
But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away from God are brought near through the blood of Christ's death. Christ Himself is our peace. He made both Jewish people and those who are not Jews one people. They were separated as if there were a wall between them, but Christ broke down that wall of hate by giving His own body. The Jewish Law had many commands and rules, but Christ ended that Law. His purpose was to make the two groups of people become one new people in Him and in this way make peace. Ephesians 2:13-15 (NCV™)
Red Rocks Four CornersWe have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:14 (KJV)
This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were His enemies, separated from Him by your evil thoughts and actions, yet now He has brought you back as His friends. He has done this through His death on the cross in His own human body. As a result, He has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. Colossians 1:21-22 (NLT)
God has not pre-destined us to meet His anger, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 (WNT)
This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to know the truth. There is one God and one way human beings can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who is Himself human. He gave Himself as a payment to free all people. He is proof that came at the right time. 1 Timothy 2:3-6 (NCV™)
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV)
What are the angels, then? They are spirits who serve God and are sent by Him to help those who are to receive salvation. Hebrews 1:14 (GNT)
Jesus lives on forever, and His work as priest does not pass on to someone else. And so He is able, now and always, to save those who come to God through Him, because He lives forever to plead with God for them. Jesus, then, is the High Priest that meets our needs. He is holy; He has no fault or sin in Him; He has been set apart from sinners and raised above the heavens. He is not like other High Priests; He does not need to offer sacrifices every day for His own sins first and then for the sins of the people. He offered one sacrifice, once and for all, when He offered Himself. Hebrews 7:24-27 (GNT)
You stand in need of patient endurance, so that, as the result of having done the will of God, you may receive the promised blessing. Hebrews 10:36 (WNT)
Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. James 4:8 (WEB)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in Heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5 (ESV)
You have been born again, and this new life did not come from something that dies, but from something that cannot die. You were born again through God's living message that continues forever. The Scripture says, "All people are like the grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass dies and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord will live forever." And this is the word that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:23-25 (NCV™)
There is one thing, dear friends, which you must not forget. With the Lord one day resembles a thousand years and a thousand years resemble one day. The Lord is not slow in fulfilling His promise, in the sense in which some men speak of slowness. But He bears patiently with you, His desire being that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9 (WNT)
Red and Yellow Maple LeavesBut if we live in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 (WNT)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (ESV)
The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever. 1 John 2:17 (WEB)
The love of God was made clear to us when He sent His only Son into the world so that we might have Life through Him. And this is love, not that we had love for God, but that He had love for us, and sent His Son to be an offering for our sins… And we have seen and give witness that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 1 John 4:9-10, 14 (BBE)
This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life, but whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God so you will know you have eternal life. 1 John 5:11-13 (NCV™)
"Because thou sayest, 'I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;' and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:17-20 (KJV)
After this I looked, and a vast host appeared which it was impossible for anyone to count, gathered out of every nation and from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in long white robes, and carrying palm-branches in their hands. In loud voices they were exclaiming, "It is to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb, that we owe our salvation!" Revelation 7:9-10 (WNT)
Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, "It has happened at last! God's salvation and the power and the rule, and the authority of His Christ are finally here; for the Accuser of our brothers has been thrown down from Heaven onto earth—he accused them day and night before our God. They defeated him by the blood of the Lamb, and by their testimony; for they did not love their lives but laid them down for Him." Revelation 12:10-11 (TLB)
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To those who are thirsty I will give the privilege of drinking from the well of the Water of Life without payment." Revelation 21:6 (WNT)
